Would you say that the PREVENT score may overestimate risk then based on the type of recommendation it made for low risk patients? Also, how well does the scoring tool apply to other demographics?
Great question. This is tricky but I think my answer is that the PREVENT score does not estimate the outcome I am interested in, which is all-cause mortality. The PREVENT probably does a fine job at predicting the cardiovascular outcomes, it’s more that the outcome isn’t useful. The PREVENT did use a more racially diverse cohort than the PCE. Honestly though, I am really not an expert in these risk scores so if anyone sees that I am wrong please comment!
